We source our stock form previously used New Pallets.
They are sorted by a visual inspection for Grading, Repairing or Chipping then added to our Stock ready for dispatch.
Damaged boards are replaced, and the pallets continue their lifespan with various easy-to-fix repairs. This versatility means that we rarely need new timber, saving the trees for the planet. In one year we recycle over 2 million pallets, which we estimate saves around 50,000 trees.
When pallets reach a point where repair is no longer possible, that’s when they get recycled. Often they’re used for animal bedding, or mulch.
But they never go to waste.
An interesting fact about wood is that is requires very low amounts of energy for production. Then it stores carbon during its lifetime. In fact, each pallet stores on average around 27kg of carbon. That means that wooden pallets carry a very low carbon footprint. To reduce it even further, we often use certified sustainable wood for our pallets. The wood comes from forests that are managed responsibly.
Businesses are facing growing pressure to evidence the sustainability of their supply chain. As stricter regulations come into force about using more environmentally-friendly practices, your business or organisation may need to publish details of the ESG compliance of your business partners. Thankfully, that’s an easy task when you work with us. The sustainability credentials of wooden pallets are evident.
